Madhya Pradesh to deploy more cops to tackle Maoists

Bhopal, Oct 23 – As many as 1,500 more police personnel of various ranks would be deployed mainly in Maoist-hit areas of Madhya Pradesh which are running short of cops, an official said Friday.

This decision was taken Thursday evening at a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. As per the decision, 350 policemen would be posted in Maoist-hit Balaghat district while others would be posted at other places, the official added.

Meanwhile, the police stations have also been alerted to keep a close watch on all outsiders seeking rented houses in cities including Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur and Gwalior, the official said.

The meeting chaired by Chouhan was attended by Principal Secretary (Finance) G.P. Singhal, Principal Secretary (Home) Rajan Katoch, Director General of Police S.K. Raut, Additional DGP Rishi Kumar and secretary to chief minister Sarabjeet Singh.
